Nikki Sterling is a loving wife, loyal friend, ardent autism supporter and one fierce Mother Runner! 🙂 She is a Chicago Ambassador for the Organization for Autism Research, and a multi-year alumni of their signature Run for Autism program. When she is not lacing up her running shoes, logging miles and raising funds for autism research, she is stealthily at work promoting autism awareness and understanding at a grass-roots level. Why? Because the roots, serve as our foundation.
Fueled by her son’s autism diagnosis and her insatiable quest to learn and understand the disorder, and her son, Nikki recently completed her M.A. in Applied Behavior Analysis with an Emphasis in Autism from Ball State University. In addition, Nikki plans to undergo formal special education advocacy training this Fall to garner the tools necessary to help other families navigate the slippery slope of special education law. One of her long term goals – to partner with other autism moms to launch an advocacy and support group dedicated to educating, assisting and empowering the undeserved autism community of minority families.
